Dr.
Cameron McKenzie
Blast Technology
Australia
Özgeçmiş:
Cameron McKenzie graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Engineering (Metallurgy) in 1973, and then with a Master of Engineering and PhD (Mining Engineering) from McGill University, Canada (1975) and University of Queensland, Australia (1986) respectively. He has worked since 1988 as a consultant to the international mining and quarrying industries in the area of blasting, with a particular passion for process modelling and optimisation, focused on issues such as fragmentation, damage to surrounding rock masses, environmental impact (vibration and overpressure), and flyrock.
Cameron’s belief is that an engineer’s job is to understand the processes under his or her control to the point where appropriate changes can be made to the process to effect desired changes in outcome. Modelling has been a powerful tool in improving blasting outcomes both in the mining area and beyond, with modelling tools based on a combination of full-scale field testing and measurement, and the application of mechanistic modelling. International conferences such as the Fragblast conferences are a rich source of operating experience, field measurement, blasting theory, and modelling opportunities.
Dr. Cameron McKenzie was the recipient of the ISEE Distinguished Service Award for his instrumental involvement with the ISEE and the explosives industry.
