Pijush Pal Roy

Dr. Pijush Pal Roy is presently working as a freelance Advisor of Gammon Engineers and Contractors Pvt. Ltd. and Dilip Buildcon Ltd. He was an Outstanding Scientist and Head of Research Group of the Rock Excavation Engineering Division of CSIR-Central Institute of Mining & Fuel Research & Acting Director of CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur, India. His research areas include controlled blasting techniques; rock fragmentation; ground vibration; air overpressure/noise & dust pollution; techno-economic assessment of blasting; tunnelling technologies; highwall mining; risk assessment; human response to blasting etc. He had been enlisted in the worlds 2% top scientists as surveyed by the Stanford University, USA and Elsevier. Dr. Pal Roy has worked in more than 450 mines and quarries as well as 16 hydroelectric & tunnelling projects as part of sponsored and consultancy assignments & accomplished many S&T Projects funded by the Ministry of Coal; Ministry of Mines; Ministry of Water Resources; Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. He authored 4 books in rock blasting technology and highwall mining published by the Oxford & IBH PCPL and Taylor & Francis (CRC Press), 2 guidelines and 155 technical papers published in National and International Journals & Seminar/Symposia Proceedings. He is the recipient of many national awards like CSIR Young Scientist Award; National Mineral Award; CSIR Technology Award etc. of the Government of India.
